You will need an email address in order to complete the application and certification process to be a PCA/Direct Support Worker. If you do not have an email address please contact us or come to office so that we can assist you with getting it set up.
We require two forms of identification. This is necessary for background checks through the Minnesota DHS NetStudy system and I-9 employment verification. Your information is handled with care and in compliance with all regulations. Valid forms of ID include driver’s license, state ID, tribal ID, social security card, birth certificate, military ID, and passport) must be included with the employment application packet.
Go online to https://registrationtraining.dhs.state.mn.us/ and register to take the training. After you register, a link to the training will be emailed to you. Complete the training and test and include a copy of the completed and passed test with your employment application.
A background check including fingerprinting is mandatory for PCA/Direct Support Worker certification. PCA/Direct Support Worker’s must be determined as Eligible prior to starting work. Details are included in the Background Study Notice of Privacy Rights included in the application packet.
Once we verify your training/test completion, confirm that you have passed the state-required background check and process your PCA application, we will enroll/affiliate you with MNDHS as a PCA/Direct Support Worker with our agency. You will be assigned a Provider Number.
Before starting work as a PCA/Direct Support Worker, you will need to complete the New Hire Orientation process which may include additional training.
You will meet with the QP and your client to go over and sign their Care Plan. This is a crucial step to complete prior to starting your duties as a PCA/Direct Support Worker
